Climate Policy Engagement Overview: The Korea Semiconductor (KSIA) appears to have very limited engagement with climate policy, and weak disclosure of its climate policy positioning and engagement activities.

Top-line Messaging on Climate Policy: InfluenceMap found limited and positive evidence of clear top-line messaging on climate policy by KSIA. At the ‘Semiconductor and Display Industry Carbon Neutrality Committee’ at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy in March 2021, KSIA stated support for achieving a sector-based 2050 carbon neutrality target via the ‘2050 Semiconductor and Display Industry Carbon Neutrality Joint Declaration’. At the same event, the association also broadly supported the development of government carbon neutrality policy.

Engagement with Climate-Related Regulations: InfluenceMap did not find evidence of KSIA’s positions on, or engagement with, various strands of climate policy.

Positioning on Energy Transition: InfluenceMap found limited evidence of KSIA’s engagement on the transition to a low-carbon energy mix. As reported by SMN News in June 2022, KSIA supported policy to develop low-emissions technology in the semiconductor industry, advocating for government support for infrastructure establishment and human resources development.
