Climate Policy Engagement Analysis

Climate Policy Engagement Overview: The Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Association (AISMOLI) appears to have low public engagement with climate policy in Indonesia in 2023-2025 with positive positioning. The association has frequently supported incentives for electric motorcycles.

Top-line Messaging on Climate Policy: While AISMOLI’s Chairman, Budi Setiyadi, has acknowledged climate change in a March 2025 YouTube post, AISMOLI does not appear to have communicated a position on Indonesia’s 2060 net-zero goal or the Paris Agreement.

Engagement with Climate-related Regulations: AISMOLI appeared to have positive positions on Indonesian climate policy. AISMOLI supported a modal shift to lower carbon forms of transport, as recorded in a News article published in August 2025. Moreover, in a YouTube video published in February 2025, AISMOLI chairman, Budi Setiadi, supported a transition to public transport over private vehicles.

Position on Energy Transition: AISMOLI engaged positively related to decarbonization of internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycle between 2023-2025. AISMOLI supported the policy to subsidize the conversion of ICE Motorcycle to battery electric motorcycles, as recorded in a Press Release, published December 2023. AISMOLI also supported the expansion of charging infrastructure as noted in a YouTube video released in October 2023. In an October 2024 YouTube, AISMOLI testified to the Indonesian Parliament to support the continuation of government subsidies for electric motorcycles. In a YouTube video published in March 2025, AISMOLI Chairman, Budi Setiadi supported the phase-out of ICE motorcycle, as well as the electrification of motorcycles.
