Climate Policy Engagement Analysis

Climate Policy Engagement Overview: La Poste appears to take both positive and negative positions on climate change policies, with limited engagement between 2023-25.

Top-line Messaging on Climate Policy: La Poste broadly supported urgent action to combat climate change in its top-line messaging. The company supported France’s Climate and Energy Law to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 on its corporate website, accessed in April 2023. Additionally, La Poste’s subsidiary, Geopost, appeared to support the goals of the Paris Agreement in it’s 2023 Sustainability Report, published in June 2024.

Engagement with Climate-Related Regulations: La Poste had limited engagement with specific climate-related regulations in 2023-25. In a joint Climate Group EV100+ members position paper published in October 2023, La Poste’s subsidiary Geopost advocated for ambitious EU CO2 emissions standards for heavy-duty vehicles and opposed 'loopholes'. Additionally, in a position paper published in September 2024, Geopost appeared to advocate for measures in the EU to promote energy efficiency and a modal shift to lower carbon forms of transport.

Positioning on Energy Transition: La Poste had mixed positions on the energy transition in 2023-25. In July 2024 feedback to the EU’s greening corporate fleets initiative, the company appeared to support the introduction of incentives and voluntary measures rather than mandatory measures. In the same consultation, La Poste’s subsidiary, Geopost, broadly supported incentives to decarbonize corporate fleets and a mandatory share of ZEVs in the fleet, but appeared unsupportive of other forms of mandates. Additionally, La Poste’s subsidiary, DPD UK, supported the UK Zero Emissions Vehicle mandate’s central trajectory for vans in response to a May 2023 consultation.

Industry Association Governance: La Poste does not appear to have disclosed a current list of its membership to industry associations. The company is a direct member of the Équilibre des Énergies, which has both positive and negative engagement with climate policy.
