Climate Policy Engagement Analysis
Climate Policy Engagement Overview: Foxconn appears to have minimal engagement with climate policy, with a positive top-line position on the Paris Agreement, the global climate targets, and the electrification of public transport. However, Foxconn exhibits limited transparency on its engagement with other types of climate policy.
Top-line Messaging on Climate Policy: Foxconn communicated a positive top-line position on climate policy. In its 2022 TCFD Net Zero Vision Report, published in May 2023, Foxconn recognized some of the science of climate change. In an April 2024 press release, Foxconn supported GHG emissions reductions in line with 1.5°C target. In its 2022 Sustainability Report, published in July 2023, it supported the Paris Agreement.
Engagement with Climate-Related Regulations: Foxconn appears to have limited engagement with specific climate policies. As reported by Yahoo Finance News in November 2023, Foxconn supported government investments in renewable energy, regarding it as Taiwan's competitiveness.
Positioning on Energy Transition: Foxconn appears to have very limited engagement on the low-carbon energy transition in the past two years. As reported by TEEMA Times in January 2023, the CEO of Foxconn called for government policies to aid electric vehicle infrastructure in Taiwan.
Industry Association Governance: Foxconn disclosed a list of its industry association membership in its corporate reporting, however, without providing details on the associations’ positions on climate policy and how it sought to influence these positions. Foxconn is a member of the Taiwan Transportation Vehicle Manufacturers Association which has negatively engaged with policies on electrification of transport.
Additional Note: Foxconn is headquartered in Taiwan, where InfluenceMap’s LobbyMap platform can currently only make a provisional assessment of corporate climate policy engagement, due to limited capability to access publicly available data on this issue. As it is possible that InfluenceMap is not yet able to fully capture evidence of Foxconn's climate policy engagement activities, these scores should be considered provisional at this time.
InfluenceMap collects and assesses evidence of corporate climate policy engagement on a weekly basis, depending on the availability of information from each specific data source (for more information see our methodology). While this analysis flows through to the company’s scores each week, the summary above is updated periodically. This summary was last updated in Q3 2024.
